Welcome to CritiCollectors!
By Charles
Welcome to the website! My friends and I have always been huge gaming fans and we always have lots to share about our favourite games. The issue was that I was never quite sure what my favourite game was. I decided to start reviewing games as I played them, and that idea turned into making this website so I can share my opinions with the world. I chose CritiCollectors for the site name as I wanted to highlight that we're not just critiquing modern games. We also want to share our experiences collecting games over many console generations to help you make smart choices when buying new games.
I developed a rating system to quantify how good a game was and if it was worth the time and money to play. When reviewing a game, the categories are:
Presentation: How is the graphic and sound quality? Are the textures well-designed? Do the visuals and sound get in the way, or do they add to the experience?
Controls: Are the controls intuitive and easy to get the hang of? Are they comfortable, or obtuse?
Content: This category covers game length as well as difficulty. Will you get a lot of challenges out of this game, or is it too short? This is also the place to talk about post-game content (spoiler-free).
Fun: Even if a game doesn't do very well on the above topics, it can still be fun. Maybe there is a certain feeling it gives, or maybe the overall concept is good despite poor execution.
Each category is ranked out of 10 for a total score of 40. I'm trying my best to not be scared of giving 4's or lower when a game deserves it. Finally, I give my thoughts on what the game is worth. I talk about the price, factoring in aftermarket prices, and recommend what content is worth your time to play and what should be skipped.
CritiCollectors is also launching with articles for metagame updates for the Pokémon Trading Card Game apps. We're hoping to add coverage for more games in the future.
I have recruited some of my friends to start making reviews as well, so expect more reviews to come very soon. Learn more about the team on the dedicated page. I hope you enjoy CritiCollectors and use it as a place to learn more about all sorts of video games!
