Gyarados Gold Star Holon Phantoms 102/110

Gold Star Pokémon were an extremely rare type of card during Generation 3, which featured a Pokémon’s Shiny form. You could only have one Gold Star Pokémon in your deck, and they were all Basics. These cards were effectively the exact same as Generation 8’s Radiant Pokémon, albeit far rarer.

One cool part of Generation 3 is that multiple game mechanics overlapped, meaning that this Gold Star Gyarados is also Delta Species. Its type is changed to Fire to better match its Shiny colors, which is a nice touch.

Gyarados’ All-out Blast highlights how these cards often had more unusual attack effects. The attack discards cards from your deck until you have just 1 card left. Furthering the connection, Radiant Steelix would later have a very similar attack.
