Wimpod Pokémon GO 25/78
Pokémon Go’s commemorative set included a lot of neat cards that were themed around the mobile game. Why then, was Wimpod included? It’s a neat Pokémon, but it doesn’t really have much to do with Pokémon GO.
The reason why Wimpod was chosen was because Niantic released Wimpod and Golisopod into the game for the first time concurrently with the release of the TCG set. At the time, GO was soon to catch up with the full Pokédex, so individual lines were released instead of a whole generation at once.
Punk Out is a clever Ability to emulate Wimp Out, but I don’t know why it couldn’t have just been called Wimp Out again. Unfortunately, Wimpod was given a Retreat Cost of 3. This is obviously so Punk Out could be useful, but Wimpod’s best stat by far is its 80 Speed.
