M Garchomp EX Promo XY168

The XY Generation had a lot of ground to cover in terms of chase cards, as many Mega Evolution Pokémon were introduced. You would think Mega Garchomp would get its own expansion in short order, but this new form ends up as a Promo card.

The card isn’t very strong either, needing perfectly ideal conditions to even Knock Out a Basic EX. Even worse is that its Crimson Edge attack name is a ripoff of Mega Charizard Y’s Crimson Dive. I’m not sure how Mega Garchomp is Crimson… this is important, since the attack name is plastered along the card.

Although it’s disappointing Mega Garchomp didn’t get its own set, it sure made a fantastic collection box. Today is quite the opposite - regular Garchomp was enough to surpass the brand-new Gholdengo as the star of Raging Surf, and we get bulk cards like Grafaiai ex in our collection boxes.
